[백석대학교] My Hotel Internship Experience in South Korea

I graduated from Baekseok University with a major in Global Hotel Business in February 2024 of this year. From July of last year to August of this year, I gained valuable experience working as a concierge intern at Andaz Seoul Gangnam for more than one year.
Andaz Seoul Gangnam is a boutique brand under the globally renowned Hyatt Hotels, known for its unique design and exceptional service. With over 70% of its guests being international visitors, it has established a strong global reputation. Working in such an environment allowed me to interact with customers from diverse cultural backgrounds, understand their needs, and provide tailored services, which was a deeply meaningful and exciting experience.
Notably, I was the first foreign exchange student to join Andaz Hotel, and three other foreign exchange students joined the team alongside me. The hotel staff had extensive overseas experience and were well-versed in foreign cultures, creating a welcoming atmosphere for foreign employees.
In addition, since foreign staff are not common in other hotels or service positions in Korea, many guests were intrigued and delighted to see me. This often resulted in positive feedback in customer reviews, which was very rewarding.
Andaz Seoul Gangnam offers various opportunities for international students, including support for work visas. If you are looking to build a career in the hotel industry, I encourage you to apply not only to Andaz Hotel but also to other Hyatt related branches that support work visas.
Now a days, there are many opportunities of foreign hiring across various fields. If you work hard, you will surely achieve great results.
